This really is the year of birds being absolute bastards and passing through very quickly allowing themselves to be identified but not enjoyed. This morning our long-awaited first Ring Ouzel for the site flew over my head calling and then disappearing less than a second later behind a hedge never to be seen again. Bastard! I spent the next few hours finding a good few Blackbirds and Song Thrushes but not the one I wanted.
Woodpigeon migration was more visible today with about 15,000 recorded. Skylarks were more numerous too with one nice flock of about a hundred. Two Swallows were seen.
The first Cetti's Warbler of the season was heard calling and one Zitting Cisticola was seen.
