Besançon 1/11/2026

After a rather late night due to Halloween festivities, I decided not to get up early to go to Pagney but once I did get up I couldn't stay at home all day so inspired by free parking on a Sunday, I decided to go into the city centre to try and see some of the specialities.

In the Parc Micaud I was hoping to see our 15 year-old Danish Cormorant 7VH back for another winter - the five Cormorants present weren't ringed though. Goosanders and Mallards were here and there along the river and a group of around 20 Black-headed Gulls flew over.

A walk to the Citadelle hoping to see a Wallcreeper yielded nothing more than the free monkeys in the ditch before you have to pay to get in and a Firecrest on the way down. It was abundantly clear that my knees feel older than my 44 years.
